Smart ESS supporting the whole workforce

Further Modern Day Slavery issues support for all of our flexible employees, clients and staff.
In keeping with our ethos of always being vigilant to the risk of Modern Day Slavery; always saying when we find it and always dealing with the threat of it (and continually looking for new ways to do this), Smart Environmental Support Services (ESS) is introducing Modern Slavery Champions.
These Champions will be existing operational staff and their key role is to raise awareness of modern slavery and exploitation, let workers know what support is available to them and how to report concerns or suspicions.
A terms of reference document for the role has been prepared and suitable candidates are in the process of being identified from within the ESS population. Training will be provided where this hasn’t already been completed.
Says Matt Spaul, Managing Director of ESS: “The Modern Slavery Champions will help us further focus our attention on the scourge of modern slavery and hidden labour exploitation by increasing awareness amongst the workforce. Heightening understanding of these issues is an important step to help prevent workers from being exploited and to identify any individuals who may need help”.
